The emergence of comics and graphic novels as a form of literature has given rise to the debate on whether comics and cartoons can be considered as art. Over the years the development of graphic arts and illustrations as an artistic genre has only expanded the horizons of this debate. The show does not aim to resolve the debate in any manner, but provide insight into grounds on which both high art and graphic novels / comics / illustrations can be compared and contrasted.
