Echoes of the Unheard

Residency Open Day

Utsha Foundation of Contemporary Art, VR-39, Unit - 6, Bhubaneswar, Odisha. 27 Apr - 27 Apr 2018 6:00 pm Onwards Open for All

Our first resident artists of 2018, Ekta Singha from Baroda and Rasmirekha from Bhubaneswar, have spent their last few days exploring, practicing and experimenting with the rich art forms of Odisha.

Ekta Singha, an alumni of Faculty of Fine Arts, MSU Baroda and Rasmirekha Barik, B.F.A, B.K. College of Art and Craft are Utsha’s first resident artists of 2018. Ekta is a painter and Rashmi is a ceramic artist by training. Ekta follows the approach of Indian miniature to narrate her own story. Rasmirekha expresses her feeling and experience through ceramic sculptures.

But during this residency period both of them are experimenting with new material and form, which is unconventional to their practice. On one hand, Ekta has worked with traditional coir craftsmen of Raghurajpur and is narrating her story through sculptural forms in 3D. On the other hand, Rasmirekha is working with applique in a 2D form to depict her experience and feelings. Both of them are using used clothes as a central material to give the message of waste management.

They will be sharing their thoughts and discoveries with you, along with the exhibits at 6:00 PM on 27th April.

Come join us this 27th April evening on what promises to be a fascinating Open Day. We expect to see you all and enjoy the evening along with us!
